Alpha Omega Eta African Sorority, Inc.

Proelefsi Chapter at the University of Florida

To Her whom Much is given, Much is required...

Alpha Omega Eta African Sorority, Inc. is continuously engaged in philanthropy and service projects aimed at benefiting various factions and areas of society. The following are our four major sustained initiatives:

Etas Taking It Global Service Abroad Program:

Every year, Wanawake take their service abroad. Stepping out of your comfort zone and operating in an unfamiliar place is the most character defining  and refining, as well as fulfilling thing one can engage in. It is also the best education. Our primary ETIG service focus is toward women's social and economic empowerment through partnership with local NGOs.

Dreamgirls Mentoring Program:

The Dreamgirls Mentoring Program was designed to develop girls between the ages of 3 and 18 years in helpful life-skills that will predetermine their success as responsible adults and members of society. Mentees (a.k.a. Dreamgirls) are taught to value themselves, be socially responsible, culturally aware and appreciative, to dream and aim high, and to live a life that sows seeds of positivity and success, so that their visions can develop into reality. Dreamgirls are not members of Alpha Omega Eta African Sorority, Inc., and hold no rights within. Fun in the Sun Project for Africa:

Alpha Omega Eta African Sorority, Inc. has a deep sympathy for children particularly who have been victims of terror and war, human rights abuse and poverty. Several cases in Africa have left children stripped of their childhood and exposed to images and experiences that haunt whole nations for long periods in relation to development. FS Africa simply brings laughter and childhood back to children in a simple yet lasting way, by building playgrounds in areas where children have nothing and nowhere to play and create memories. To us, this is just as important as buying a child a new pair of shoes. Happy and healthy children, make for a healthy and happy society. [The College Think] T.A.Y.N.K.:

The Africa You Never Knew is an effort to educate college campuses about, and unite people of the African continent and Diaspora. It is also a unique opportunity for students to talk freely and listen first-hand about their (as is everyone’s) favorite topic—themselves.

During the Fall 2009 semester, the Proelefsi Chapter would be taking part in the following community initiatives:

 - Dreamgirls Mentoring Project

 - Children's Home Society of Florida
